Edit your message

Made a typo or want to rephrase? Edit the message and the AI can respond to the new version. The conversation continues from there. Useful when you realize you asked the wrong question or forgot a detail.

Regenerate the reply

Not happy with the AI's answer? Use regenerate to get a new reply to the same message. The model will produce a different response. You can regenerate until you are satisfied. Same behavior you had with ChatGPT-4o - familiar and predictable.

When to edit vs regenerate

Edit when your message was wrong or incomplete: fix the typo, add the missing detail, or rephrase the question. The AI will then reply to the updated message. Regenerate when your message is fine but you want a different or better answer. Both use tokens from your allowance, so use them when it matters. On Plus and Pro you can track usage in the dashboard and plan accordingly.

Token usage

Each edit or regeneration sends a new request to the model, so it counts toward your monthly token allowance. If you regenerate many times in one thread, that thread uses more tokens. On the free tier, use edits and regenerates for the replies that matter most. Plus and Pro users get a usage dashboard so you can see how much you have left and adjust. The behavior is the same as on ChatGPT - you stay in control of when to refine an answer.
